Our family centre is located at Maesteg Market Square, Maesteg. With a second-hand shop and community cafe, we also have a family therapy centre where we deliver a broad, integrated programme of activities and support designed to improve children’s emotional wellbeing, development, and family stability.

We empower families to thrive by creating welcoming spaces for free play, learning, and connection. Through engaging workshops and access to essential resources, we support children, parents, and the wider community at every stage of their journey.

Our goal is to strengthen resilience, ease financial pressures, and nurture long-term stability. By fostering meaningful relationships and providing practical support, we help families build confidence, connection, and opportunities for lasting growth.

Key elements include:

⭐️Play and Development Sessions:

Early-years playgroups, messy play, sensory sessions, and story time help children develop confidence, creativity, and emotional expression while allowing parents to engage and bond.

⭐️Parental Skills and Confidence Building:

Workshops covering topics such as emotional regulation, gentle parenting, communication, first aid, and child development help caregivers feel empowered and capable in their roles.

⭐️Life Skills and Wellbeing Courses:

Practical sessions, including cooking, budgeting, sewing for sustainability, and digital literacy, reduce financial stress and promote independence.

⭐️Emotional Wellbeing and Mindfulness Support:

Family mindfulness sessions, creative arts therapy, and group discussions reduce stress and promote mental resilience.

⭐️Essential Aid and Practical Help:

Our baby and child bank, food and fuel bank, and uniform swap shop ensure that no family is left behind due to financial hardship.

⭐️Safe Spaces and Targeted Support:

The centre provides confidential areas for local authority contact sessions, a female-only wellbeing day with professional support (IDVA and ISVA), and quiet spaces for reflection and counselling.

Absolutely amazing place. All the services are free of charge and confidential. Contrary to the previous post all qualifications are displayed on the walls. The people here have done so much to help me and my family from food parcels to getting my son into school. Can’t speak highly enough of them. Wonderful organisation and such caring and kind staff.

I contacted Barc on behalf of a friend who was struggling to navigate the benefit system and needed support. Rebecca arranged food parcels and supported the individual to claim the correct benefit and is offering ongoing support to ensure the individual doesn't slip into a crisis again.

My wife and I are elderly and have many difficulties coping with everyday life not always solvable by usual practical means. However, each and every week this charity have checked in with us on the phone to make sure we are coping and they stand ready to help us whenever things get serious. Working with local partners, they arranged for a free skip to help with de-cluttering our house, which for pensioners would normally be prohibitively expensive. I have had free counselling too. We are confident that Bridgend Community Outreach are there as a safety net, whenever we need them. We thoroughly recomend them 🙂😍
